Bamboo flooring is eco-friendly mainly because of the bamboo plant. Bamboo is the fasting growing plant, so it grows quickly after harvesting. Also, harvesting bamboo does not completely kill the plant. As a result, the yield of bamboo is typically 25x the yield of hardwood. Likewise, cork flooring is eco-friendly. Cork is actually made from only the bark of the cork oak tree, so the tree is relatively unharmed.
